In celebration of their split release coming November 20th from Flenser Records, Deafheaven and Bosse-de-Nage will be playing a record release show (also featuring Wreck and Reference) on November 30th at DNA Lounge in their hometown of San Francisco, CA.
The split album for Flenser will feature two tracks- Deafheaven's cover of Mogwai's \"Punk Rock / Cody\" and Bosse-de-Nage new original track \"A Mimesis of Purpose\"- and will be available on digital and 12 inch vinyl, mastered at 45 RPM. There will also be a limited edition of 200 LP's on purple and black marbled vinyl directly from Flenser, which can be pre-ordered now here. You can also check out Deafheaven's Mogwai cover streaming on Pitchfork, and the Bosse-de-Nage track will be premiering on Stereogum late next week.
Deafheaven hails from San Francisco and their last album, Roads to Judah, landed on countless \"best of\" lists for 2011, including #6 on NPR's Best Metal Albums and #22 on Pitchfork's Top 40 Metal Albums. Esquire Magazine called the band \"Brutal and bracing, with a shoegazing indie-rock band's ear for graceful melodicism.\"
Bosse-De-Nage is one of the most recent and intriguing enigmas to arise within the Bay Area underground music scene. The elusive four-piece can be best described as a band who combine influences that range from minimalist-outsider black metal, punk, and early '90s indie art rock.
Wreck and Reference is an experimental metal band from Davis California. The band proves to be an affront to the tired and trite conformity found within the metal hegemony, instead using synths, live drums and vocals to craft a sound that is melancholic, fierce and catchy. Calling upon influences ranging from industrial, to doom metal, to noise rock, the resulting music is a trainwreck of contradictions yet devastatingly heavy, somber and addictive.
