\"What's not to love about Happy Fangs? Raw, out of breath, out of mind, it's easy to lose yourself in their commotion. Once you've seen the band live or on screen, it's pretty impossible to separate their visual style from their musical one. The duo, made up of Rebecca Gone Bad and Michael Cobra, dons black and white attire, mostly featuring stripes, geometric shapes and face paint, which speaks to the duality of the music. Their sound is shaped by Rebecca's courageous voice and Cobra's feedback heavy electric guitar -- bright sounds paired with often dark lyrics -- the pair is always raw, but rarely stripped down.\" -- KQED
Night Club is an electronic pop duo from LA featuring Emily Kavanaugh (vocalist) and Mark Brooks (producer). Brooks and Kavanaugh began writing dark synthphp songs together in 2011. Although Brooks comes with a lengthy pedigree in performing/DJ-ing (Warlock Pinchers, Foreskin 500, Le Pimp and MegaJive), this marks Kavanaugh's first entrance into performing following in the steps of her father, Kevin Kavanaugh (keyboardist from the legendary New Jersey band Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes).
Everyone Is Dirty: \"Liz Phair, Kim Gordon, the entire riot grrrl movement -- the Nineties were a good time for women in music, so it's not surprising to hear female-fronted bands that are heavily influenced by the decade. On Everyone Is Dirty's Head in the Cloud, the meandering melodies, apathetic vocals, and distorted guitar are reminiscent of the aforementioned acts. The Oakland outfit is also capable of radio-friendly pop songs like \"I Was Born Under a Star,\" which, save for its long, messy guitar solo, is so precious and adorable it borders on twee.\" -- East Bay Express
