Formed in Los Angeles in early 2000 this powerhouse will not disappoint. Otep is fronted by female vocalist Otep Shamaya, whose vocal range can go from breathy, almost ghost-like whispers to some of the heaviest aggression-filled screams. The band, whose nfluences range from Black Sabbath, Pantera, and Slayer to Siouxsie and the Banshees, Tool, and Skinny Puppy, keep the rythym heavy and flawless. Otep's live performance is so good that Sharon Osbourne asked them to play Ozzfest before they were on a record label, and Capitol Records signed them based on seeing them play live.
